Nellie Othala Roberts

Nellie O. ROBERTS was born on July 23, 1893, in Decatur, Texas, and died on June 25, 1973, in La Junta, Colorado. She married Simeon M. DEASON most likely in Texas. She is Milton's mother and he is one of her four children. Though as yet I have no concrete proof, there is some evidence, as well as family legend, that Nellie was part Cherokee Indian. I have been told that Othala is an Indian name and there are several case numbers in the DAWES Commission papers that appear to be related to Nellie or her father, Moses.
