Wiley Clayton Corley

W. C. CORLEY was born on March 21, 1878, in Floyd County, Georgia, and died before 1930. He married Beulah PAYNE on July 22, 1898, in Georgia. He is Evelyn's father and she is one of his seven children. He was also a twin. After Beulah died in 1912, Wiley Clayton, or Clate as he was known, disappeared and his children were sent to live with different relatives. Several of the children remember seeing him after this, but all agree that the last they heard from him was in the late 1920's. One daughter has stated that in the 1950's a man confessed to her that he had shot Clate during a craps game and buried him in the hills around Lavender, Georgia.
